UV Stabilizer

2021-11-04

Uv stabilizers absorb most of the UV radiation and convert the absorbed energy into harmless organic compounds released by heat.

Ultraviolet radiation has great damage to polymer materials.  It destroys the weakest chemical bond (such as the σ bond between the tertiary carbon atom and hydrogen atom) in the polymer compound and generates active free radicals, which can then lead to a series of photooxidation degradation reactions, degrading the properties of the material until it completely loses its use value.  Adding a small amount of UV stabilizer can inhibit or delay the photooxidation degradation reaction (see polymer photodegradation), maintain the excellent properties of the material, prolong the service life.  Many organic compounds have the ability to absorb ultraviolet radiation.  Uv stabilizers commonly used in industry are derivatives of compounds such as diphenylketone benzotriazole and salicylate.
